Medical Mission Aid was very excited to receive our official CMA Standards Council accreditation certificate this month at the annual CMA Conference.

The CMA Standards Council is a ministry of Christian Ministry Advancement Ltd, a not-for-profit charity, seeking to help the Christian not-for-profit sector in Australia govern, lead and manage their organisations more effectively.

MMA was assessed on the 9 Principles of Ministry Accountability and the 54 standards that fall under those principles and received a 100% passing grade. CMA accreditation is indicative of an organisation that values good governance, accountability and stewardship and is a valuable endorsement of MMA’s integrity. Thank you to the supporters who joined us for our annual Autumnfest celebration! This year, our focus was on the fantastic work of our partners in Tanzania, and we were lucky enough to see videos of some of our medical and nursing scholarship recipients. We were also blessed to have 2 incredible, gifted, talented speakers – Dorothy Prentice and Amanda Ward – both of whom have worked as doctors in Tanzania. Thank you both for your wonderful insight and for sharing your experiences in Tanzania.

A small but beautiful group of MMA supporters gathered together to connect and celebrate the meaning of Christmas. A big thank you to Meryl, Jenny, and board members ( and their wonderful spouses!) in putting this event together.

MMA would like to wish our overseas partners and our local supporters and families a blessed Christmas and a happy, healthy and exciting 2022.

It was so delightful to be invited to share MMA’s story at Greenwood Village in November. Our wonderful long term supporter and advocate, Dawn Worthington, organised a trading table with her team, raising valuable funds to assist our overseas partners to create sustainable change to healthcare in vulnerable communities. Delicious pizza was had by all afterwards! A big thank you to Greenwood Village for the invitation – it was wonderful to meet such a lovely group of people!

It was such a privilege to visit this beautiful church and meet this incredible congregation. Christ Church Dingley has been amazing supporters of Medical Mission Aid for many many years. It is truly a church that lives out its values, especially when it comes to being a blessing, serving and having a positive impact on the community both locally and overseas. Dawn and her wonderful team have been doing a monthly stall at the church, selling home made jams, cakes and chutneys, as well as clothing, plants, hot packs and many other beautiful gifts. The time and effort involved has been huge, but it’s all been done with big smiles and generous hearts, resulting in thousands of dollars being raised to help improve the health of the most impoverished communities overseas. Thank you to Rev Wayne for welcoming us and for creating such a beautiful church atmosphere – absolute pleasure to visit 🙂

It was such a pleasure to finally be able to celebrate Medical Mission Aid’s Centenary after Covid restrictions postponed last year’s festivities. There was a wonderful turnout, with about 120 supporters and friends enjoying lunch, reconnecting after many months and remembering the incredible work of the volunteers in the past, honouring those who have been significant in changing lives of those less fortunate over the years.

Meryl McEwen, secretary of MMA, started the formal proceedings with a brief history. This was followed by wonderful, fascinating recollections from Jill Wilson, Dorothy Prentice, John Morshead, Ruth Judd, and current president Jenny Bock. The special guest speaker, Mary Lewis, gave us a powerful and thought provoking speech. MMA are so grateful to Mary and her husband Owen for flying from South Australia to join the celebrations. They are vital contributors to MMA’s work with our partners in Nepal and South Sudan.

It was also an incredible privilege to have two of our previous presidents, Jill Wilson and Ruth Judd (celebrating her birthday on the day!!) present, both of whom are such an inspiration to us all.

Thank you to Jenny Bock and Meryl McEwen for organising this amazing event and to the wonderful staff and community at St Thomas, Burwood for welcoming us at their beautiful church.

Now to prepare and look forward to seeing what can be achieved in the next 100 years 🙂
