About Me
Family and Community Background/History
I am a local resident of the Lalitpur district of province 3, eastern Nepal. We have 8 members in our family. My family occupation is farming and we belong to a Buddhist community. Only myself, my mother and my elder are Christians. My father is a farmer and my mom is a housewife.
Why do you want to pursue this area of study?
I have observed that there is no pharmacy where villagers can have access to medicine. There is a covid hospital and health posts with a limited of medicines. People have to go for long distances to buy medicine. That is why after I graduate, I plan to open a pharmacy in our community.
Why do you need sponsorship?
Firstly, we have very limited income sources that are not sufficient to afford for tertiary education. I thank the lord for his grace for me to obtain a seat for pharmacy. My mom has been trying hard to afford for my food expenses as well. Fees for pharmacy studies are high in Nepal. Since I am a believer, my dad is not supportive to provide the expenses related to my course.
What will the impact be of your studies to you, your family and to your community?
I aim to open a Pharmacy if everything is favourable. This will help people in the local community to access medication, significantly impacting their health. Since there is big scope and prospects with pharmacy, I think I will earn a good income which will improve our family’s economic condition. It is also difficult being a woman in Nepal, so being a pharmacist will lift my status.
