About Me
I am local resident of Mahatari district of province 2 eastern Nepal. We have 7 members in our family and farming is my father’s occupation. My mother is a housewife. My family belongs to warrior community of Chhetry class.
Why do you want to pursue this area of study?
I grew up seeing many Christian healthcare professionals from Lalgadh Mission Hospital, who used to bring the patients for prayers. The church pastor and leaders used to pray for them by calling their names and somehow, since my childhood, I always wished to be like them. On many occasions, I used to observe sick people who visited the church for prayers. To pray for patients, asking God’s healing grace and at same time, using my medical knowledge and skills, would be a wonderful privilege for me. This inspires me to serve the sick and suffering by being a medical doctor in future.
Why you need sponsorship?
We depend on earnings from the farming and we have limited land. It is just sufficient to support our family, but not enough to pay for education. I had to struggle financially even to finish my Secondary Education Examination (SEE). I always topped the results in my schools, and so I received scholarships to pay for the school fees. I praise the Lord for such provisions which helped me to finish my school level educations including +2 in science.
What will the impact be of your studies to you, your family and to your community?
Firstly, I will work as a doctor in a public government hospital as I am bonded to serve for 2 years where the government assigns me. My service with compassion will open doors to witness Jesus to the people with medical needs. After that, I will have to make a choice as to where I should work – public or private medical organisations. I will make a good income which will significantly improve our family’s economic position.
Secondly, my status being a woman will upgrade and hopefully the social misperception towards women will be changed positively. I hope I will empower other women to study and become healthcare professionals.
