About Me
Family and Community Background/History
I am local resident of the Tanahoo district, province 4 of Nepal. We have 6 members in our family and we belong to outcaste (so called Dalit community). Our family occupation is tailoring and service.
Why do you want to pursue this area of study?
Often, there are no paramedical workers in our rural health post. I saw a great need of nursing and medical manpower in our community. I estimated that there is probably an acute need of nurses in other parts of the country as well. Therefore, I have chosen the field of nursing as my future career.
Why do you need sponsorship?
My father has a tailoring shop, which is the main source of earning. My mom used to help him in this business. However, for the last 6 years, she has been suffering from paralysis and not been able to work. My second elder unmarried sister is working as receptionist and my elder brother has gone to Dubai to work but has not been able to earn an income as expected.
Because of a limited income, resources are not sufficient to afford further education. I thank the LORD for his grace for me to be privileged to obtain a seat for my intended course. Fees for nursing studies in Nepal are very expensive. Without a scholarship, I would be unable to pursue my nursing course.
What will the impact be of your studies to you, your family and to your community?
After I graduate, I hope to get a nursing job preferably in my own community. However, wherever our government will assign me, I will be ready to serve. My aim is to come to my own community and work either in the hospital or at one of the Health Posts. I will be equiped to help the local government in introducing preventative health care.
As a result of my studies, definitely my income status will rise. Also, in order to improve the health of the community, I will try my best to make a contribution and make a difference in health care services.
